In Care

Live-in care, provided by Draycott’s dedicated nurses and carers, is a specialised form of care giving, where the dedicated caregiver resides with you in your home, providing round-the-clock, 24/7 support tailored to your specific needs. This type of care offers a viable alternative to residential care facilities, and is designed to help you with the care you need, where you can maintain your independence and quality of life, all within the comfort of your own environment.

At Draycott, our live-in care packages are usually extended term arrangements, with the same caregiver remaining with the individual for a prolonged period. This fosters strong bonds of trust and familiarity, contributing to a sense of companionship for both clients and their families.

A live-in carer typically requires their own private bedroom, providing them with a space for rest, relaxation and personal privacy when they are off-duty.

Key features of live-in care

  1. Personalised support: A live-in carer offers one-on-one care that is tailored to your individual requirements. This can include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication management and mobility support.
  2. Companionship: Beyond practical assistance, live-in carers are companions who engage in meaningful conversations, provide emotional support and partake in activities that you enjoy.
  3. Home comfort: You can remain in the familiarity and comfort of your own home. which often leads to a higher sense of well-being and contentment.
  4. Meal preparation: This is a significant aspect of live-in care. The carer will assist with menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, ensuring that dietary needs and preferences are met.
  5. Bonding opportunities: Shared meals and activities provide wonderful opportunities to build a strong and trusting relationship between you and your live-in carer.
  6. Flexibility: The live-in care plan can be adapted as your needs change over time. This ensures that you receive the right level of support at every stage of your journey.

Financial considerations for live-in care

With live-in care, the client is usually responsible for providing food for the carer. Typically, this can be integrated into the regular grocery shopping, meaning that a meal for one becomes a meal for two.

However, in cases where either you or your carer has special dietary requirements, a food allowance (suggested minimum £50 per week) may be agreed upon to help facilitate this.
